I’ve totally forgotten this blog! Confession: It took me one whole day to remind my id and password. Now I will reboot my ‘one posting a day’ project! (I’m hardly realising that I almost forgot my English while working in French for three years. Tears…)

That I am considering a career change to anther field, I think I should re-establish my English writing skill with no choice. I probably would take a business talking class at an institute in February.

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted anything here. It makes me feel weird when I re-read all these sentences I wrote. “Was it really myself who wrote this?”

Anyway, I m trying to scribble things again. I hope it will last this time.

Teeth, money:

Today I went to see a dentist. I was just thinking I had some tooth decay. To my surprise, the doctor said I had six small small caries and one deelply decayed tooth. It wasn’t the end; according to my smiling doc, I have to get some of my already-cured-four-years-ago teeth re-cured because they are damaged as time goes by. Oh Lord, all these works will cost me a fortune! I was sinking into a deep deep depression hearing this bad and surprising news.

I have recently realised that money is ‘very’ ‘very’ important. It’s a little bit funny that i realise this now, not 10 years ago or 5 years ago. I didn’t know about money before because it wasn’t that difficult for me to get things I wanted. I feel I was like a kid. Now that I got older, it makes me ashamed to be without my own money. It makes me ashamed to live with someone else’s money. My father’s money, to be exact. Depression, depression.

01. It’s been a while since I bloged here. I have been quite busy; Since I returned to Korea, I have loads of trivial things to do. Theses things, in fact, please me so far.

02. Everybody asks me what I am going to do now. And my answer is always “Well, I don’t know.” Don’t get me wrong- I’m not proud of it.

03. It’s not impossible, but yet very difficult …to acheive something that you don’t even want.

1. I’ve finished yesterday. The ending was a little disappointing: it finished leaving all the unexplained holes in the story, and it was fairly tasteless ending for me. I still think this book makes a very interesting story though.

2. We had a little barbecue party in our yard today. Boys had prepared foods and they started to cook everything, so I didn’t need to do anything. I was just watching them working. I really enjoyed chicken and rice salad. Nice picnic. It was cold but it didn’t rain as yesterday.

Cecelia Ahern’s ‘A Place Called Here’

I am reading Cecelia Ahern’s . Although I haven’t finished it up yet –I left some pages for this evening-, this book is real inspiration to me. Not only because it’s a wonderful novel but also because it encourages me to write again.

I saw Cecelia Ahern first time on tele when I was sitting in the living room couch with my Irish host mommy. Cecelia was talking about her new book at ‘the Late Late Show’. She had a lovely face, lively talk, and sparkling eyes. She was radiating happiness to the point where people could smile unconsciously.

I had no idea who she was before my host mommy told me that she was a writer who had written the book , which had been adapted into a film afterwards. O.K., I saw the movie but I did neither love nor hate it particularly. My host mommy gave me some additional information: Cecelia is the daughter of Ireland’s prime minister, and her sister is married to Nicky of Westlife. Besides, she is same age as me! Hmm, a little bit more interesting. And, after listening intently my host mommy talking long about her love for Cecelia’s books –She read all of her books. And every time she reads her book, she used to end up crying.-, I finally was really interested in Cecelia and her writing.

Some days later, I came across her books when I was wandering around Borders in Oxford Street. There were 5 or 6 of her books, and I don’t know why but I choose this book, . With this pink-colored cover, this book looked like it was real essence of her romantic writing. … Yes, I had no idea what was like her writing at that time.

Now, having almost finished the book, I should confess I was totally wrong about her writing. Her novel wasn’t a romance novel but a real ‘story’. I am not a great lover of all her sentences in the book though. A lot of nice sentences but a lot of too-much-clichéd sentences also. However the most important and impressive thing is that she knows how to tell a tale, and how to concentrate on what she wants to tell. That’s what a novel writer should do.

What was really great to me while my reading is that I could recall Dublin scenery the writer was depicting. I was thrilled to recall St. Stephen’s Green lake with ‘ducks’ when Jack was there in the book. I miss Ireland already. I’m thinking about read one more book of her others. It will probably be .

Long time no see!:

I’ve been totally occupied with travelling all these days. I left Ireland, I was in London, and I am in France again now. I don’t know whether I could revive this ‘one day one post’ rule –It doesn’t look like it was even alive before though..- but I’m trying. It wouldn’t hurt to continue to practice writing in English even though I came back in France.

I like writing in English in fact. When I write in Korean, I become a little bit ‘strained’. I am so fastidious about my writing that I feel guilty about every inch of errors: spelling mistakes, ill-structured sentences, or just genuinely ‘bad’ writing. I just can’t tolerate it when I am not satisfied with what I’ve written. On the other hand, I feel much freer when I write in English. Probably it’s because I have an excuse for being bad writer while writing in English: “In my defense, English is not my mother language. I’m just learner. So it’s quite natural that I’m not good at writing in English.” A convenient excuse, hmm?

Anyway, I always love writing either in Korean or in English. (I exceptionally don’t like writing in French because it suffocated me completely when I was writing a master’s thesis in French this year.) The moment of writing is the only moment I am perfectly concentrated on, fully enjoying the present moment without thinking anything else.

suitcase locks:

I realised I had lost my suitcase lock key. I looked everywhere in my room and I couldn’t find it. I had no choice but to break the lock. I asked David whether he could do the breaking job with hammer. He doesn’t have any hammer but he’s got a saw instead. I was watching how easily the lock could be cut up. Amazing.

National Art Gallery:

Today, I went to the Irish National Art Gallery. Mon Dieu! I loved it. Some of paintings were really amazing. In particular, Caravaggio’s was a incredibly impressive piece. It took my breath away. How he could realise such a deep facial expression Jesus was making! The stillness of Jesus’ face was oddly radiating an emotional explosion at the same time. I couldn’t help but watch and watch it for a long time.

There was a exhibition about portraits of Irish popular figures as well. Bono’s portrait was interesting and some brilliant portraits capted my eyes with their sparkling ideas. In the Spanish painting room, I admired Goya’s paintings, like always.

I don’t have much time. I am always complaining about lack of time. I have too many things to do. I have too many things in which I am interested. I am doing too many things at a time. As a result, I don’t achieve anything in reality. I should fix this.
